Free Two-Day Dental Clinic To Be Held In Tulsa This Weekend
TULSA, Oklahoma - The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy free two-day dental clinic is scheduled for this weekend in Tulsa. Organizers say it's a life-changing event for Oklahomans without dental insurance - which is more than half the state's residents, according to a news release.
More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the sixth annual dental clinic February 6 and 7.
The Cox Business Center will be transformed into a full-functional dental clinic with volunteer dental professionals offering cleanings, filling, extractions and root canals.
They recommend you get there early, as patients will be seen on a first-come, first served basis. Be prepared to spend 6 to 8 hours at the clinic.
They recommend bringing a list of your current medications, one day supply of medications for everyone who will be there with you.
Also, if you are diabetic, please bring appropriate snacks that you might require throughout the day.
Doors open at 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7 at 100 Civic Center in downtown Tulsa. When they reach capacity - estimated to be 1,000 patients per day, doors will be closed.
They serve breakfast and lunch but don't allow food to be taken onto the floor where the dental work is done. Translators will be available. Patients under 18 must have a parent or guardian in attendance.
Remember, you may be there six to eight hours.
Several state dignitaries will be at an opening ceremonies event early Saturday morning.
