Tulsa Woman Goes On Wild Chase After Hit-And-Run Fender Bender

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa woman says she has learned a lesson about how to pick her battles.

That's because she now realizes she could've been killed in broad daylight in a Tulsa neighborhood, all over something that was pretty minor.

It all started over a fender bender, and when the victim realized the man was taking off, she followed him. She never could have predicted what happened next.

"I looked up and he was really close then – boomp," Beth said.

Beth didn't even have time to check the damage when the driver who hit her took off and she took off after him -- through the neighborhoods near 51st and Peoria.

He finally pulled over because his car overheated.

She pulled up to get his insurance information.

"Whenever he got out of his car to look at all the smoke, he noticed me pulling up and he pulls a gun," Beth said.

She said he pointed the gun at her and said, “Give me all your stuff.”

She said she kept telling him, I don't have anything, and that's when things went from bad to worse.

"He started pulling out bullets from his pocket, pulled out a box of bullets, digging in them," Beth said.

That's when she decided to drive off, and as she did, she says he threw the gun at her car, then when he went to retrieve it, she put her car in reverse.

"I put it in reverse because I didn't want him to get that gun,” she said. “I look up and I'm about to hit him, so I swerve the wheel to the right and hit him with the front of my car."

She hit him in the hip and he took a hop, but he wasn't hurt, just mad. Then he reached into her window and punched her in the face, she said.

That's when she hit the gas to get out of there, but hit the curb and blew her tire and kept driving anyway.

"I was shaking so bad,” she said. “I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do."

The man left in his smoking car, but police caught him within a couple of minutes.

They arrested Brian Hardy. Records show he was arrested a few months ago for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

"I shouldn't have chased him at all,” Beth said. “That was very dumb of me."

If there is one lesson Beth hopes people learn from watching this story, it is not to follow someone over something as minor as a fender bender, because it could end up getting you killed.
