The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for several counties around Tulsa County until 6 p.m. Friday.

The counties included are Creek, Craig, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington.

Red Flag Warning information

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the Red Flag Warning is because strong southerly winds and spring-like temperatures will create a high fire danger Friday.

He says the high is expected near 69 with winds from 15 to 25 mph Friday afternoon. Crone says it will be even warmer Saturday and Sunday.

The NWS says if a wildfire starts Friday, the wind will allow for the blaze to spread rapidly, making it hard for firefighters to control.
