Oklahoma Truck Driver Charged With Sexually Abusing Washington Girl

A truck driver from Miami, Oklahoma is in the Ottawa County jail awaiting extradition to Washington state on a charge of commercial sex abuse of a minor. 

In late January Washington State Police detectives arrested a woman from a Seattle-area community on allegations she offered her 14-year-old daughter to Bryan Murphy, 38, for sex. 

They said the teen reported the abuse to police and detectives interviewed the mother and arrested her. 

Court records state the woman met Murphy online and arranged for him to have sex with her daughter in exchange for $400 in rent money and a marriage proposal.

Detectives tracked Murphy to Miami where he was arrested. They said Murphy had allegedly abused the teen in his semi at a truck stop along I-90 near Seattle.

He was booked into jail on February 6, 2015 with a bond of $250,000.

“This is a brave young lady," said Washington State Patrol Captain Roger Wilbur. "We hope every young person who is the victim of sexual abuse will follow her example."
