A couple was found stabbed to death inside their home in Hennessey and police said they believe it may be a murder-suicide. It happened in the 300 Block of West 6th Street.

The small town was shaken Friday night and a 5-year-old little boy is without a mother and father. Hennessey police said the 5-year-old and his grandmother were in the home when this all happened.

Police were called around 11 p.m. Thursday night by a friend of the family because of a language barrier.

Police said the grandmother was sleeping inside the home and was awoken by an altercation between her grandson and the mother of his child.

Police said the two were in a relationship but were not married.

Moments after hearing commotion in the home, police said the grandmother found her grandson and the woman on the floor.

The woman had been stabbed to death and police said it appeared the man's stab wounds to his chest were self-inflicted. He was transported to Bass Hospital in Enid, where he died.

"She was asleep during part of the altercation, but she was later woken up. She spoke at least briefly with her grandson before he lost consciousness," Hank Weber, Hennessey Police Chief.

The 5-year-old was taken by DHS and given to family members. Police said they don't believe the child witnessed the stabbings.

OSBI will assist Hennessey police with the investigation.

The names of the victims have not been released.
