ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma - Good Samaritans pulled a woman from a burning recreational vehicle Sunday afternoon on the Will Rogers Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Authorities say the RV ran into the back of a semi, then was hit by a pickup.

The crash took place just before 11 a.m. between Claremore and Catoosa.

Trooper Matt Sullivan said the RV was in the outside lane of the westbound turnpike near the Highway 266 exit when a semi pulled out from the shoulder and into its path. The RV rear-ended the semi, then a Ford truck rear-ended the RV, OHP said.

Two other people who witnessed the wreck stopped to pull the woman from the burning RV.

OHP said 58-year-old Peggy Howse, of Dayton, Ohio, was transported to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition with head, arm, leg and trunk injuries.

The driver of the semi, Muhammed Ali, 29, of Columbus, Ohio, was transported to a hospital in Broken Arrow with head injuries but was treated and released, the OHP report says.

Russell Gossett, 54, and Jennifer Gossett, 58, both of Chelsea, were in the truck and were not injured.

Sullivan said they were taken by ambulance because medical helicopters could not fly in the weather conditions.

The OHP report says it was snowing at the time of the crash, but the cause still is under investigation.
