A driver was arrested on a DUI complaint after authorities said he crashed his pickup truck into a deputy's patrol car in Warr Acres, early Monday morning.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, Sgt. Jeff Hardin was driving southbound on N. MacArthur near N.W. 46th Street around 1:20 a.m. when he saw a pickup truck cross the center-line, and crash head on into him.

Authorities said Hardin attempted to avoid the truck, but was unable to.

The driver of the pickup was 20-year-old Antonio Serna of Warr Acres. Sgt. Hardin rushed to assist Serna, and pulled him out of his pickup truck.

Both Hardin, and Serna were taken to the hospital to be checked out. Hardin suffered from some minor injuries, and Serna was cleared by medical staff.

While speaking with Serna, deputies said they noticed that he smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred, he had bloodshot eyes, and appeared tired.

Serna refused to submit to a DUI test, but due to the fact that the wreck injured another person, deputies had medical personnel conduct a forced blood draw. Blood alcohol results are pending.

Serna was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of reckless driving and driving under the influence with personal injury (felony.) He is currently being held on $5,500 bail.
