MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma - Muskogee County District Attorney Orvil Loge ruled that the recent shooting death of Terence Walker Jr. by a police officer was legally justified.

Walker was shot and killed outside a Muskogee Baptist Church January 17, 2015, after threatening a woman at a wedding. Police were called to the church by Reverend Andrew Jones after the woman told him her life was in danger, court records show.

Officer Chansey McMillin responded to church and questioned Walker, starting to place the man in handcuffs.

Walker ran from Officer Chansey McMillin and dropped a .22-caliber pistol as he fled, Loge said in his finding Monday.

"Once he retrieved the gun, he was a direct threat to Officer McMillin...and every individual present," Loge said.

"Terence Walker Jr. dropped his gun a second time and as he picked it up, he unlawfully pointed it at Officer McMillin. Officer Chansey McMillin lawfully fired his handgun at Terence Walker, Jr., causing his death."

The Muskogee Police Department released video recorded by the officer's camera showing him shooting and killing the man he was trying to arrest.
