TULSA, Oklahoma -

The signs are up warning drivers of two major pavement replacement projects set to get underway in Tulsa next month.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to think about other ways to get across Tulsa when work gets underway on I-244 in March.

ODOT say starting Monday, March 2, crews will begin replacing the pavement of nearly a three-mile stretch of I-244 between Delaware Avenue and 73rd East Avenue. The $38 million project will also include the replacement of bridge decks on Admiral Place and 73rd East Avenue.

ODOT says two lanes of traffic will be kept open in each direction every day from 6 am to 7 am, but overnight construction work may require the closer of additional lanes from time to time.

The project is expected to complete by the summer of 2016, weather permitting.

Closer to downtown Tulsa, ODOT says a second $22 million pavement replacement project will begin in mid-March between the Highway 75 junction on the northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop and Delaware Avenue.
