News On 6 has been in contact with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Both are working hard to keep at least one lane of traffic open on major Oklahoma roads.

Jack Damrill of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said if people are driving on the Turner Turnpike, they should be able to make it to Oklahoma City and back.

The Creek Turnpike is showing some dusting, he said.

Damrill said drivers are going about 45 to 50 miles an hour. He advises slowing down and leaving plenty of room to stop if something happen.

Mart Stewart, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, reports about the same.

"It's a little tough to keep up right now, but we're trying as best we can," said Marty Stewart with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Stewart said they have 41 trucks working Saturday morning. They started "double teaming" the snow by running a snow plow up front followed by a sand spreader putting material down on the roadway.

"So far, we're showing two lanes visible on most of the Interstates and highways," he said.
