Roughnecks Fall 2-0 To St. Louis

The Tulsa Roughnecks suffered a tough loss Thursday night, as the team went down 2-0 to St. Louis.

Game Synopsis

At the end of the first half, the team was down 6-0 in shots on goal.

St. Louis pressured early.

During the 17th minute, Jamiel Hardware hit the post. Then in the 25th minute, Zac Lubin was pressed into action, before being pressured again in the 31st minute. Shortly after, Scott Musa had a great chance to score but Lubin parried it away. Later in the 43rd minute, Bryan Gaul put it in off the rebound, giving St. Louis a 1-0 lead.

After Halftime, Tulsa woke up.

Steven Miller got a header on goal, which was the Oilers first shot on goal for the night. But, St. Louis responded in the 56th minute when Jermie Lynch scored off of a defensive miscue.

With St. Louis up 2-0, Tulsa needed to take advantage of offensive opportunities.

Kidd Nwabueze had a couple of chances to put in a goal, but none went in for him. In the 70th minute, he had one of his best shots at a score, but the kick went just high of the net.

After the game, Coach David Irving was concerned that his team would have this type of struggle. "After Saturday, I was telling the coaching staff I was a little concerned about this game, after the long day shows you might say. We were a little flat tonight; we didn't play well at all. We didn't actually start playing until we were 2-0 down."

The good news is, the Roughnecks go back to the pitch this Saturday against an Austin team that loss 3-0 this week to Vancouver.
