Sources close to the investigation say a Warner officer responded to a call of a traffic accident around 11:40 p.m. Friday north of Warner. When the officer arrived, the 34-year-old suspect attacked the officer, fracturing the officer's eye socket.

A scuffle ensued, and the suspect was tasered in an effort to subdue him. After being tasered, the suspect continued fighting. After he was handcuffed, the suspect collapsed.

The officer performed CPR, and the suspect was transported to Muskogee Regional where he was later pronounced dead.

The officer was also transported by ambulance to be treated for his injuries. No names are being released at this time.

Muskogee County Sheriff Charles Pearson said they called in the OSBI to investigate. He said he wants there to be no appearance of impropriety since their departments are known to work well together.
