One day after northeastern Oklahoma escaped severe weather the southeastern portion of the state is being threatened.

The Tulsa branch of the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10:00 Wednesday night for several Oklahoma and Arkansas counties.

Choctaw, Latimer, LeFlore and Pushmataha counties in Oklahoma are included in the watch along with Crawford, Franklin, Madison and Sebastian counties in Arkansas.

At one point there were more than 15 counties across Oklahoma and Arkansas included in the watch.

In addition, the NWS has placed a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for some Oklahoma counties. Several reports of hail came in from News On 6 viewers in the area of the storms.

News On 6 Meteorologist Stacia Knight said a cold front is moving through, which could intensify storms developing in the southeastern part of the state.

Knight said the “hot zone” for the day will be storms near Muskogee, Eufaula and McAlester.

Once those storms move out Thursday night, she said things should clear up for a calm Friday but storm chances return Saturday and Sunday.
