MACOMB, Illinois -

Derrian James went six-for-six with five RBIs, helping the Golden Eagles to a 19-1 win over Western Illinois.

Scoring Synopsis

In the first inning, Derrian James singled to center field before stealing second. Later in the inning, Anthony Sequeira singled to left field, scoring James with two outs. Noah Cummings struck out looking soon after, making out number three.

Xavier Altamirano sat down the Leatherneck's first two batters in the bottom of the inning, followed by a groundout to end the first.

Nick Roark sent a bunt down third, but was thrown out to start the top of two. Dean Wilson then got hit by a pitch. He soon stole second to put himself in scoring position, but was left stranded.

Western Illinois threatened at the bottom of the inning after Colton Pogue advanced JJ Reimer to third. With two outs, Brent Turner singled to right field, scoring Reimer to make it a 1-1 ball game. The rally ended when Altamirano struck out Roman Visintine on a breaking ball.

James stayed hot, leading off the top of three with a single to right field. Oral Roberts then went on to advance its lead 3-1 off of hits from Audie Afenir and Cummings that scored James and Matt Brandy.

The Leathernecks didn't have much luck at the bottom of the inning as they went down without scoring.

The Golden Eagles extended its lead 5-1 after James delivered again to score Wilson, followed by a single from Afenir that scored Brandy.

ORU wrapped the top of four with another run, taking a 6-1 lead before heading out to field.

It was three up three down at the bottom of the inning, quickly sending Oral Roberts back to the plate.

THE BATS DON'T STOP: The top of the fifth proved to be very successful for the Golden Eagles, as the team tallied six more runs to escalate its advantage 12-1.

ORU remained in complete control of the game, finishing with a 19-1 win over the Leathernecks.

Oklahoma City's All-Star trio of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony were bottled up in the first half by an active Utah defense. By the time George and Anthony got going, the come-from-behind climb was too steep. Anthony scored a game-high 26 and George added 22. Westbrook was held to six points on 2-for-11 shooting. He was held to single digits just twice in the two previous regular seasons.

This is a Q&A session of things fans are asking about with OU and OSU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder. OU FOOTBALL Question: What’s this with the bad weather reports from Manhattan? Bill Snyder has been through approximately a zillion of these. Young Lincoln (Riley) exactly zero. Adds up to me as us starting in a two TD hole. Whatcha got? Answer: Just got the latest weather update on Manhattan local TV. It’s eerily similar to what happened here last week in KS...
