Tulsa Police say a high-speed pursuit ended with the arrest of a Tulsa man who was driving a stolen vehicle. Richard Thomas Charlton ran red lights, drove into oncoming traffic and shut off his headlights in attempts to elude arrest overnight Sunday, according to a police report.

Officers first tried to pull him over near Pine and Sheridan after the tags on his pickup came back as stolen.

Instead of stopping, police say Charlton drove westbound onto East 11th Street then blew through several lights with his headlights off. He drove up to 90 mph but was tracked by the Tulsa Police helicopter, an arresting officer states.

Charlton, 32, was finally taken into custody in the 300 block of South Florence, an arrest report states.

He was booked on complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, driving without a license and possession of marijuana - all after former felony conviction. Court records show he was sentenced for burglary of an automobile in 2002.
