Memorial Baseball Pays It Forward

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Memorial Chargers opened regional play Friday morning with a 9-0 win over Capitol Hill, but more importantly, it was a chance to help out the Redskin baseball team.

Several Capitol Hill players have significant flood damage to their homes from this week's storms.

The Memorial Booster Club chipped in to buy gift bags and gift certificates.

The Chargers had all their equipment stolen last year, and used this opportunity to pay it forward after others helped them out. "Our hearts go out to them, and we hope that they can go out and rebuild quickly and get on with some normal life," said Memorial booster club member Alan Devereux.

For playing through the tough time, Capitol Hill coach Mike Hinckley is proud of his team. "What I realize is that God is in control. As we watch our city get ripped up once again… for them to not have practiced all week and to come up and play like this, man, I am so super proud of them."
