Oklahoma State University head softball coach Rich Wieligman will not return next season, Director of Athletics Mike Holder has announced.

The Cowgirls finished 2015, Wieligman's ninth year at OSU, with a 21-31 record, including a 3-13 mark in Big 12 play. It was the second straight losing season for the Cowgirls.

“I want to thank Rich for his efforts at Oklahoma State. He worked hard at his job for nine years and has a lot of great qualities, Holder said. “Unfortunately, our program has lost its momentum and I feel it's time we move in another direction.”

Wieligman took over the OSU program in 2007. In 2009, he led the Cowgirls to the first of three straight NCAA regional appearances, which culminated with a 2011 trip to the Women's College World Series.

Since 2011, the Cowgirls are 102-111 with a Big 12 record of 22-54.
