The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says it has been asked to investigate the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.
In a news release, the OSBI says the Tulsa County District Attorney's office asked it to investigate allegations of misconduct inside the sheriff's office.
The agency says it is "conferring with other investigative and prosecutorial entities with jurisdiction in this case to determine the best and most efficient course of action."
The OSBI says if it opens a case, the public will be notified.
Special Coverage: TCSO Reserve Deputy Shooting Controversy
Last week, Tulsa County commissioners approved starting the process to review the operation of the sheriff's office following the fatal shooting of Eric Harris by Reserve Deputy Bob Bates.
Bates shot and killed Harris after an undercover gun sting. He said he accidentally pulled his gun instead of his Taser.
The commissioners said an outside agency will take a look at how the office is organized, including the operation of the reserve deputy program.
