Severe Storms Cause Damage In Western OK

Saturday evening severe weather moved through the western part of the state, causing damage in some areas.

 Saturday evening severe weather moved through the western part of the state, causing damage in some areas.

According to Altus Emergency Manager Lloyd Colston, they have received reports of downed power lines and a roof collapse. Colston said they will be without power for awhile. The damage was reported just north of the Oklahoma River.

Elk City Police Chief Eddie Holland said there were not yet reports of damage in Elk City as of 6 p.m. Saturday.

At 6:35 p.m., Will Rogers World Airport reported arrivals were delayed because of weather.

At 6:37 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported US 283 S. of Elmer was closed due to a power line down on the roadway.

The Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority reported the City of Mangum and City of Waynoka were without power.

Just before 7 p.m., Elk City Police Chief Eddie Holland reported two small trailers in an RV park on the northeast edge of town were damaged but no one was injured.

At 7:05 p.m. Tillman County Emergency Management said they received reports of downed power lines west of Tipton along Highway 5. There were no injuries reported at that time.

After 7 p.m., a semi could be seen on Highway 62 east of Snyder jacknifed in the median.

At 7:15 p.m., Major County Sheriff's Office said there are reports of damage in Cleo Springs. So far, reports of downed trees and power lines.

At 7:20 p.m., the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority reported the City of Fairview was without power, impacting more than 1,500 customers.

At 7:48 p.m., OU reported it suspended NCAA regional softball play due to the storms. Athletes were told to move to OU Law Center for shelter.

At 8:50 p.m., Altus Emergency Management reported no damage to occupied structures. Power was out in Headrick, Hess, and Elmer.

Major County Emergency Management reported tornado damage in Cleo Springs. Initial damage assessments were underway. Transmission lines were down near Orienta.

Roger Mills Emergency Management reported damage to a few businesses and multiple outbuildings. Some homes and manufactured homes also sustained damage. No injuries were reported.

As of 9:10 p.m., the OKC Dodgers were still in a rain delay at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

At 9:45 p.m., EMSA spokeswoman Lara O'Leary reported EMSA had not yet received any weather-related calls.
