The National Weather Service has issued several flash flood watches and warnings for counties in southeastern Oklahoma, because of all the rain which has fallen in the past 24 hours.

Weather Alerts

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the rainfall has left behind flooding problems for a number of counties including Latimer, LeFlore, McIntosh, Muskogee and Pittsburg.

In LeFlore County, flooding as forced the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to close Highway 82 from Talihina to Bengal and Highway 270 between Wister and Heavener.

In Pittsburg County, ODOT says Highway 63 from Haileyville to Kiowa and Highway 31 from the junction with Highway 271 to Haywood are closed because of high water.

Crone says eastern Oklahoma will see temperatures in the lower 70s Wednesday afternoon as a cool front settles into the state. It will be even cooler on Thursday and Friday with highs in the upper 60s.

By the Memorial Day weekend, Crone says rain and a chance of thunderstorms will move back into Oklahoma as another storm system arrives.
