*I've said since he was fired that Scott Brooks would not be hired and become a head coach in the NBA next season. Word is Brooks will turn down chances to interview with New Orleans and Denver. One of the back stories not discussed during the post-Brooks firing days was the fact that Brooks' wife wasn't overwhelmed with much about living in OKC and had moved back to California. If Brooks actually is turning down the chance to become the head coach for Anthony Davis of the Pels—the young and healthy soon-to-be greatest player in the game—re-establishing matters at their California home is the only thing that could have Brooks actually talking about pursuing the TV broadcast booth and passing on coaching in 2015-16. ”The Brow” is more enticing right now than Kevin Durant, because he's healthier, younger and locked in at New Orleans. For KD, a year from now a healthy foot and championship run would make the previous sentence null and void

ALL YOU KNEED TO KNOW

*Everything else is meaningless detail if Dwight Howard's knee injury prevents the Houston stud from being healthy enough to post impactful double-double numbers in the remaining games of the Western Conference Finals. In fact, Dwight must recover quickly from the Game 1 knee tweak because if he's not right for Thursday's Game 2, the Rockets will be down 0-2 and officially toast. It's a knee sprain, leaving his effectiveness in doubt. Only thing not in doubt is how this series turns out with a Dwight Howard Lite.

NO CUTE KIDS IS FOR LOSERS

*Stephan Curry's 2-year old daughter, Riley, stole the spotlight during his postgame interview last night. She wouldn't' have been nearly as funny had Golden State lost. But Curry's smarter than some NBA numbskulls who recently took their kiddos to the news conference after a loss. Some of Riley's expressions were priceless. But if you are one who loves this kind of thing, get a good look now. The NBA will soon outlaw kids at non-championship postgame interviews.

LOCALS FRANCHISES REPRESENTING

*Congrats and good luck to our OKC Barons, who may be playing the last game of hockey tonight for an OKC pro franchise—at least for a while. The Barons fought to a Game 6 win in Utica to force tonight's series-deciding Game 7 in the Calder Cup Western Conference Semifinals. The OKC Dodgers are also representing the city well, currently 26-12 and in search of an arc.

BAPTISTS LEAP-FROG TCU IN BIG 12 BASEBALL

*Defending Big 12 Baseball Tournament champion and regular season champ TCU was stunned today, 6-5, by Baylor in its first game in Tulsa. Should open the door to our state teams, particularly OSU, as the Cowboys are better than the Sooners and will have substantial backing in the Tulsa area.

-Turning down primo tickets and a night with great friends for tonight's Eagle's concert was no fun. But paying the bills is a little higher priority. I'd have had to turn down a trip to the moon as well. Unless NASA would allow a News 9 photojournalist to jump aboard and shoot it for “highlights at 10!”
