Before I get into my curling experience, some history.
I've never been that big a fan of sports on ice. Growing up, it was all about football, baseball, and basketball. Hockey was so far off my radar, I never watched even one minute of it until I started working in sports 15 years ago. And that was because I had to.
About a year and a half ago, a producer here at News 9 suggested (begged) me to suit up at an OKC Barons Hockey Club practice and play goalie. I did and it was fun, but challenging. It was the second time in my life in ice skates, and it wasn't always pretty.

I didn't know what to expect when I set up the story with the OK Curling Club. There was no skating, which was good, but I kept an open mind. Curling is harder than it looks, but it's fun. It's kind of like bowling on ice. A simple game, with relatively simple rules. Once I got my balance and understood what I was trying to do, it was a great time.
My day with the Curlers at Arctic Edge in Edmond was more of a demonstration for television than actually competing, but I think I'd like to try and actually play the game and see if I can get into it.
