A Checotah man was arrested and is facing multiple charges after a domestic assault and hit-and-run crash on the northeast side of Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

It all happened around 4:15 p.m. near NE 23rd St. and Oklahoma Ave. Several callers reported to police of seeing an erratic driver in the area. Police would later learn that the driver, identified as 38-year-old Matthew Mann, crashed into another vehicle and left the scene.

One witness to the crash followed Mann while on the phone with police. That witness told police he believed the driver was involved in a domestic dispute, which is why he hit the other vehicle in the first place.

The witness followed Mann over to the Wendy's restaurant located near NE 38th and Lincoln Blvd. Shortly after police arrived and took Mann into custody. At the scene police discovered a woman nearly unconscious in the front floorboard of Mann's vehicle. According to police the woman was naked from the waist up and her face and hair were covered in blood.

The woman could barely tell police what happened, due to the severity of her injuries, so police only asked she shake her head ‘yes' or ‘no' to answer questions. In a brief interview police learned that she and Mann were in a relationship and that Mann had attacked her while they were in the car.

Based on their findings, police booked Mann into the Oklahoma County Jail on the charges of Domestic Assault and Battery, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Kidnapping, Careless Driving and Driving Under Suspension. Mann also had a warrant for his arrest out of McIntosh County for Drug Possession. A bond was not set.

The woman was transported from the scene to Baptist Hospital. During their investigation police learned that the woman also had a felony Larceny warrant for her arrest out of OKC. She was treated and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
