EMSA issued its first medical heat alert of the year Saturday. An alert is issued when EMSA receives five or more heat-related calls in a 24-hour period.
According to a release, between midnight and 7:00 Saturday night, EMSA responded to six heat-related calls. The release said of the six, one was taken to a hospital in fair condition and two others were treated at the scene.
EMSA said they treated people between 26 to 90 years old for symptoms ranging from heat exhaustion to unconsciousness to chest pain.
EMSA said it encourages everyone outside to take precautions to stay safe when going outside.

EMSA also said it's a good idea to keep a cell phone on you to call 911 if you experience any symptoms of overheating.
