Investigators say two brothers involved in a hit-and-run wreck were fighting when they went off the road and struck two teenage girls walking alongside it. Gage Shriver, the alleged driver, has been arrested for manslaughter and driving under the influence in the deadly Rogers County wreck Friday morning.

His brother Dakota was jailed for manslaughter and accessory to a felony.

Court documents indicate the brothers had been drinking beer and fought because Gage refused to turn the volume down on his car stereo.

The brothers had been to a nearby QuikTrip at about 3 a.m. when they began arguing, according to investigators.

"The argument between the two continued on the return trip, and the fighting resulted in a lack of attention which caused the crash," Trooper Matthew Ledbetter said.

Authorities say Gage Shriver's 1999 black Dodge 1500 pickup ran off Gordon Road and into a field, striking the girls and a fence. The brothers reportedly got out of the truck and continued their fight before getting back in and driving back onto the road.

Both denied seeing the girls when they drove off to their mother's house nearby, court records state.

The mother told police the three drove back to QuikTrip in the mother's Suburban and passed by the wreck scene. That's when the brothers say they first saw Talley, injured by the side of the road, and called 911.

During the course of the investigation, Ledbetter said authorities found one of the brother's wallet in the field. That led Rogers County Sheriff's Office detectives to bring the Shrivers in for questioning.

Authorities interviewed both brothers and said they changed their stories during questioning.

Gage Shriver first told investigators he swerved to miss a deer then crashed. He later said his brother punched him, then again changed his story to say he'd fallen asleep, according to authorities.

Dakota Shriver reportedly at first denied being involved in the collision at all, but his mother said when they went back by the wreck, Dakota picked up parts of the pickup and placed them in her SUV.

Gage Shriver, 19, was booked on numerous complaints including first-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, personal injury accident while driving under the influence and obstructing an officer in the performance of his duty.

Twenty-one-year-old Dakota Shriver was booked on complaints of first-degree manslaughter, obstructing driver's view or control, obstructing an officer and accessory to a felony.
