The NCAA has decided that women's college basketball will no longer be using 20-minute halves.

In a groundbreaking move, the women's game will shift to a four-quarter format starting next season. Each quarter will be 10 minutes, so the length of the game won't change. However, the foul limit will be severely altered.

Instead of reaching the single bonus on the opponent's seventh foul of the half and the double bonus on the 10th, teams will now reach the bonus on the opponent's fifth foul of each quarter. The one-and-one will be done away with and fouls will reset at the end of each quarter.

The NCAA also instituted an NBA-like ball-advancement rule. Starting next season, teams will be allowed to call a timeout after a made basket and advance the ball into the frontcourt in the last minute of regulation or overtime.
