Eufaula Man Arrested For Theft Of City Of Jenks Equipment

Authorities arrested an Eufaula man early Wednesday in connection with the theft of a City of Jenks truck and riding lawnmowers.

Police said an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper spotted a City of Jenks pickup and trailer carrying two city riding lawnmowers parked on the eastbound shoulder of the Creek Turnpike at about 2:30 a.m.

The trooper said a green Ford Explorer was attempting to hook up to the trailer. But when the trooper pulled up behind the trailer, the SUV drove off.

James Cox, 29, sitting in the pickup was questioned by the trooper who contacted Jenks Police. Officers stated there was no reason for the trailer and pickup to be out that early in the morning.

Police checked out the City of Jenks garage parking lot on North Birch and found a hole cut in the fence. Upon further inspection, police found all of the city vehicles on the lot unlocked and five had the keys in the cab or the ignition. They also learned a 2008 Dodge flatbed truck with a Bobcat was missing.

Jenks Police arrested Cox and booked him into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of second-degree burglary and possession of stolen property. Jail records show Cox is being held on a $23,000 bond with a court appearance set for June 12.

Police are still looking for the missing Dodge truck and Bobcat as well as the green Ford Explorer.
