Small Earthquake Recorded Near Pawnee, Okla.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake in Pawnee County, Monday night.

The 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported at 9:20 p.m. six miles east, southeast of Pawnee and 24 miles east, northeast of Stillwater, according to the USGS. It was more than two miles deep.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
