Tropical Depression Bill Blamed For Two Oklahoma Deaths, Flooding

Tropical Depression Bill continues to move east Friday, threatening several parts of the country with severe rainfall and flooding. Remnants of the storm dumped a lot of rain in our state, causing some flooding, especially in southern Oklahoma.

The storm is being blamed for at least two deaths across the state. A 2-year-old Ardmore boy swept out of his father's arms. Jeremiah Mayer's body was found 30 yards away from where he disappeared.

Crews were able to rescue his father.

And near Tecumseh, officials found the body of an 80-year-old woman in her car. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office says she was less than a mile from her home when her truck got carried away by flood waters.

The heavy rains washed out a church camp in Falls Creek, in Murray County sending hundreds of campers home early.

The event prompted numerous flash flood warnings during the last 36 hours and is leaving some Oklahoma rivers with major flooding.

Polecat Creek is not expected to drop below flood stage until sometime Saturday morning. The Deep Ford at Beggs will be at major stage and not drop for a few days, according to News On 6 WARN Team meteorologist Alan Crone.

The Washita at Dickson has reached historic flooding levels. That all-time flood state is expected to be destructive and will not drop below flood stage until sometime Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, Crone said.

The Oklahoma Corps of Engineers is monitoring lake levels around the clock, releasing water when needed.
