OKC Driver Arrested For Running Over Man's Foot With Pickup At Pride Parade

A driver was arrested after police said he ran over a man's foot with his pickup truck Sunday evening at the Gay Pride Parade in Oklahoma City.

According to police, at about 6 p.m., an officer was responding to an unrelated parking issue when he heard screaming from the intersection of N.W. 39th and Youngs. The officer responded and saw the victim lying in the street screaming.

The victim told police he was trying to get the driver of a silver pickup truck, 64-year-old Richard Flynn Tuohy, to stop. But Tuohy didn't listen and just ran over his left foot.

Tuohy told police that he was trying to go to his business, located at 2232 N.W. 39th, to drop off some documents, when he was confronted by the victim wearing a “security” shirt. Tuohy said he continued to drive, thinking he had room between the barricades blocking eastbound traffic on N.W. 39th from Youngs. As he proceeded through, Tuohy said the victim just jumped out in front of him and he heard screaming.

Police said they spoke with three witnesses at the scene, who all said that the victim asked Tuohy politely, three times, that he has to wait as the floats for the parade were ready to disperse and get underway. But Tuohy became frustrated and immediately pushed on his accelerator, setting his truck in motion. That's when his truck's left front tire ran over the victim's left foot. The witnesses said the truck then backed up and ran over the victim's foot again.

All three witnesses said Tuohy did not care that the victim was standing there and intentionally ran him over.

Tuohy was arrested on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail on $5,000 bond.
