State leaders are seeking feedback for the new education standards for Oklahoma students in math and language arts classes.

They're in a new draft of standards from the State Department of Education which will replace the standards developed under common core.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister, is encouraging those interested to review the standards and fill out an online survey.

“The State of Oklahoma is committed to creating standards that will ensure depth of knowledge and critical thinking, as well as reflecting the feedback of Oklahomans. That is why input from education stakeholders – from teachers to the general public – is critical to this process,” Hofmeister said.

The new standards will take effect in the fall of 2016.

You can check out the standards and give your feedback here.
