TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has demoted a high-ranking officer in the wake of the accidental shooting of a drug suspect in April.

Captain Bill McKelvey has been demoted to deputy.

He'd been on paid administrative leave since June 1, 2015.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz suspended McKelvey with pay until the completion of an internal affairs investigation. Glanz said at the time the investigation involved personnel issues and wouldn't comment further.
