Residents in Adair County Rural Water District #5 are being asked to boil their water before using it.

This comes after a district water line was accidentally cut during some digging near their water tank. The cut left about 300 residents with little to no water service.

District officials said the tank refilled by Friday afternoon, but several residents are still experiencing low water pressure.

They say the boil advisory will remain in effect for at least the next 24 hours and the Department of Environmental Quality will be assisting and letting them know if it needs to be extended.

Officials said bottled water will be distributed at the Christie Community Building, the Proctor Community Building and Chance Fire Department between 5-7 p.m., but said they will stay there as long as people continue to show.
