TULSA, Oklahoma -

While the average price for a gallon of gasoline in Tulsa is up Monday morning, a website says the price hike will be short-lived.

Prices at Tulsa QuikTrips jumped from about $2.45 to about $2.59 per gallon for unleaded regular. Others local stations are holding at around $2.45 per gallon.

GasBuddy.com says refinery issues are primarily the reason for the increase, but "rest assured lower prices will be coming back in the weeks ahead."

Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst says with oil nearing $50 a barrel, there is a "very good possibility that by mid-fall, gasoline prices could fall under $2 per gallon in a growing number of states."

GasBuddy.com says average gasoline prices in Tulsa has risen 3.5 cents per gallon in the past week, according to its daily survey of 321 gas local stations.

The last time gas was below $2 per gallon in Tulsa was in December 2014. It did not go back above $2 until mid-February 2015.
