More people are going online to find true love, but among all the singles are scammers. These scams target all sorts of people, but especially women in their 50s and 60s.

Here's how it works.  Scammers create accounts, typically with fake photos. Once a person becomes friends with them, they'll send you all sorts of sweet messages, and once they've got your trust, that's when they attack.

It usually starts with the scammer asking women for money to help pay for a work crisis, medical emergency, or travel so the two can meet.

Experts said thousands of people have fallen victims to these scams, some losing anywhere between $40,000 and $100,000.

Here’s a couple of ways to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Talk about this with your family members who may use a dating site. Also, you can do a reverse image search on Google to see if the person's pictures are duplicates they yanked from another website.
