TULSA, Oklahoma - The battle for a championship started Tuesday for hundreds of soccer players from across the country.  

Tulsa is hosting the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships at the Mohawk Soccer complex on Highway 75 at 56th Street North.

Preliminary matches for the 96 qualifying teams got underway early Tuesday.  They'll play the preliminaries all week with the championship games Saturday and Sunday for both boys and and girls teams - in seven age groups.

The Tulsa Sports Commission says this event is expected to have an economic impact of over $4 million impact on the Tulsa area.
