Tulsa Police made 16 arrests during a DUI checkpoint overnight. Officers set up around 5th and Lewis in a special enforcement event.
In four and a half hours, authorities checked 208 vehicles, made 16 arrests and issued 107 citations. It's part of a continuing effort to lower the number of wrecks caused by driving under the influence of alcohol.

Twelve people were arrested for driving under the influence, four for drugs and one on an outstanding felony warrant, according to preliminary reports.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Sand Springs Police and the ABLE Commission helped TPD in the effort. The DUI checkpoint was funded by a Oklahoma Highway Safety Office DUI enforcement grant.
