Police say a man was beaten with a flashlight following a road rage attack in Broken Arrow.

The suspect, Alfreda Mitchell, said she wishes she hadn't body slammed or hit the other driver, but the victim, Daniel Haase, said he isn’t sure what to think of her apology or her story.

Mitchell said Haase brake-checked her, but he said Mitchell was tailgating him and the situation ended with him on the ground with bruises.

"She was in the wrong by assaulting, coming after me with a flashlight," he said.

Haase said he was driving on 145th Street, passing the 61st Street intersection, when he noticed the car behind him driving so closely he couldn't see its hood.

He said he tapped his brakes a couple times trying to get Mitchell to back off, which is where the two drivers differ.

Mitchell said Haase slammed on his brakes and she rear-ended him, but he said he was just slowing down to turn into his friend's apartment complex.

Then, when they got out of their cars, Haase said Mitchell pushed him down.

"When I get up she starts yelling again, turns around, goes back to her car and gets a flashlight - comes back at me with a flashlight," said Haase.

Mitchell said she got the flashlight because Haase came at her, but he said that didn’t happen.

"Raised better; not to put my hands on a woman, no matter the situation, no matter the cost," he said.

He said his saving grace was an off-duty Catoosa police officer, who saw the whole thing and yelled, "Police," to get Mitchell to stop hitting him with the flashlight.

Mitchell faces a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
