TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police arrested a convicted felon for beating an elderly woman in a brutal attack they say was overheard by a dispatcher. The woman called 911, and the phone line was left open as police say Douglas Wayne Brewer Jr. assaulted her.

Brewer was arrested Saturday in the 2100 block of North Kingston Place.

The dispatcher heard Brewer tell the woman to give him her phone then said he was going to get a crowbar and kill her, an arrest report states.  The woman could be heard moaning and crying as Brewster reportedly said, "I am killing you; can you feel this?"

When police got to the residence, they saw the 37-year-old man standing over the elderly woman, grabbing her by the hair and repeatedly slamming her head to the ground, records show.

"Officers observed blood spray when (the) female's head hit the ground," the arresting officer said.

Authorities said Brewer tried to run from police, leaving the house and climbing a fence, but was Tased and arrested. He was booked on complaints of aggravated assault and battery, interfering with an emergency call, resisting arrest, domestic assault and battery and threatening a violent act.

He's being held on a $96,000 bond.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections records show Brewer has been incarcerated several times in the past starting in 2000. He has been convicted of numerous crimes including grand larceny, burglary, concealing stolen property, drug possession and aggravated assault and battery.
