A new program that redistributes used medical equipment has already changed the lives of thousands of Oklahomans.

It’s called the Durable Medical Equipment Reuse Program, or ABLE Tech.

Program manager Katie Woodward says ABLE Tech relies on donations. ABLE Tech cleans and reconditions equipment that ranges from bath benches to wheelchairs.

The program has redistributed more than 2,000 pieces of equipment since ABLE Tech began in 2012.

64-year-old Connie Thomason lives in Bethany and suffers from complications from diabetes and arthritis.

She says the walker ABLE Tech got her last month has been a life-changer.

“It’s given me a total life, or I’d be stuck in that chair,” she said

You can learn how to donate or receive medical equipment by dialing 1-800-257-1705, or going to www.okabletech.okstate.edu
