Dodgers Suffer Third Straight Loss

Oklahoma City fell behind early and never recovered, losing their second straight game to the Sky Sox and third consecutive overall.

The Oklahoma City Dodgers found themselves in an early deficit on the scoreboard for the second straight night in an eventual 6-3 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers (67-45) suffered a third straight loss and dropped to 0-2 in their current series with the Sky Sox (45-65) in front of a crowd of 5,199.

Colorado Springs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Matt Clark hit a two-run homer into the Sky Sox bullpen in right field.

A RBI single by Oklahoma City’s Jose Tabata in the second inning cut the Sky Sox lead in half, 2-1.

Matt Clark then hit a two-run double to put the Sky Sox in front, 4-1, in the third inning.

Colorado Springs added to its lead in the top of the fifth inning when Kyle Wren tripled, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Pete Orr for a 5-1 Sky Sox advantage.

The Dodgers scored their second run of the night in the bottom of the sixth inning when Corey Seager scored on a fielder’s choice to cut Colorado Springs’ lead to 5-2.

A RBI single by Domingo Santana put Colorado Springs in front, 6-2, in the seventh inning.

Scott Schebler hit a RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut Colorado Springs’ lead to 6-3.

In the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and runners at first and third, Oklahoma City’s Andy Wilkins hit a fly ball to deep center field that Colorado Springs center fielder Wren caught on the warning track for the final out of the game.

Sky Sox starting pitcher Josh Roenicke (6-8) earned the win for Colorado Springs, allowing two runs and five hits over 6.0 innings. He issued three walks and three strikeouts. David Goforth tallied his fourth save of the season.

Oklahoma City starting pitcher Trevor Cahill (0-3) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs and eight hits over 5.0 innings.

The Dodgers continue their series against the Sky Sox at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fireworks are scheduled to follow the game.
