TULSA, Oklahoma -

Our front is continuing to influence the area this morning.   Drier air in the form of lower to mid-60 degree dew point temperatures will move into northeastern OK along with northeast winds around 10 mph by mid-afternoon.  This will make a big difference later today and tonight.   Afternoon highs are expected in the upper 80s and lower 90s today along with much lower humidity values.  No heat advisories or warnings will be required today or for the rest of the week.   A few showers or storms may be possible both today and tomorrow across far western OK but this activity is expected to remain well west of our immediate areas of concern.

A frontal intrusion all the way to the Red River in August is rare.   But this “not as hot” air mass characterized by the arrival of drier air is expected to migrate southward into the Texoma Valley later today.   The mid-level ridge of high pressure is still near us this morning but should continue to slowly move westward for the next few days.   The air-mass behind the front has allowed our temperatures to move into the 70s this morning and will drop into the mid-60s for Wednesday morning.    Highs today will be near 90 in the Tulsa metro.  Daytime highs tomorrow could possibly stay in the upper 80s across northeastern OK with a few lower 90s across the southeastern part of the state.   Thursday morning’s lows may also start in the mid-60s before moving back into the lower 90s by afternoon.   Friday into the weekend will feature slowly increasing temperatures but the low level moisture field is expected to remain rather low.   Temperature heat index values will remain well below advisory or warning criteria for the remainder of the 7 day planner.

A weak disturbance may brush the area Friday with a few clouds but no precipitation is expected.

Enjoy this nice break from the heat!

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a great day!
