Three Children Win Oklahoma College Savings Sweepstakes

Three Oklahoma children were selected as winners of the Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan Sweepstakes.

Three Oklahoma children were selected as winners of the Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan Sweepstakes.

The winners of the “Think Big! Save for College!” sweepstakes were selected at random from entries collected in May and June, according to the state treasurer's office.

The grand-prize winner is Beckett Stricklin, a 2-year-old from Edmond. Beckett's grandmother, Kristi Stricklin, of Paden entered him in the contest.

Beckett was awarded $2,529 toward an OCSP account.

The second-place winner is Gabriel Worthington, a 2-year-old from Broken Arrow. Gabriel's father, Dalton Worthington,entered him in the contest. Gabriel won $1,529 toward an OCSP account.

The third-place winner is 7-year-old MacKenzie Hemperley, of Chouteau. MacKenzie’s name was submitted by her grandmother, Yuvonna Hemperley, also of Chouteau.

MacKenzie won $529 toward an OCSP account.

All of the family members who entered the winning children in the sweepstakes happen to be educators. 

The sweepstakes was held in May and June in conjunction with the Tulsa Zoo, according to a news release. Entries were accepted at the zoo, by mail and by online submission. Winners also received a Tulsa Zoo gift basket. Funding for prizes came from the OCSP marketing budget. No state funds were used.
