4.0 Quake Rattles Grant County

Residents in Grant County may have felt the jolt from a 4.0 magnitude earthquake Friday afternoon.

The quake struck at approximately 4:25 p.m. near the town of Medford, at a depth of just over a mile.

So far there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
