Good morning. Temperatures remain relatively cool this morning with many locations reporting the lower and mid-50s across northern Oklahoma.   Skies cleared late last night and may allow patchy fog to develop and some locations across the region.   This fog, if it forms at all, will not last long and sunshine will become abundant across the entire area for most of the day.   Daytime highs are expected in the upper 70s and lower 80s across eastern OK.  Another week upper level system will approach the area tomorrow afternoon or evening and provide another chance for a few showers or storms. Another cold front will move south Sunday giving part of the state a chance for some showers and storms.

Weather Alerts

We are a few degrees away from a record low this morning in the Tulsa Metro. Some locations across eastern Oklahoma it may also be flirting with record lows today due to the unseasonably strong cold front that moved across the area at yesterday morning.   Temperatures will continue to slowly warm over the next few days before the next cold front arrive Sunday mid-day moving across Oklahoma.   The air-mass behind the Sunday front will not be as cool as we’re experiencing now.

The front is now located to our south across portions of Texas.   This front will slowly move northward as a warm front over the next 24 to 36 hours and may be a focus for some additional showers the storms as early as tomorrow morning along the Red River Valley.   Most data support another week upper level system dropping out of Eastern New Mexico and moving across Oklahoma sometime Friday or Friday night. This would also increase the opportunity for a few showers or thunderstorms during this time.  Our forecast will keep a slight chance of storms during the day Friday with increasing chances late Friday night into Saturday morning as the disturbance moves across the area and the warm front continues lifting northward. South winds will return Friday through Saturday at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday another surface cold front will be nearing northern Oklahoma by midday to early with a chance for a few showers or thunderstorms across southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma.   This cold front is not expected to clear the entire state and may stall near the Red River Valley Monday morning.   This may provide an opportunity for a few showers or thunderstorms Monday morning across part of East Central Oklahoma.

Temperatures today will move back into the upper 70s and lower 80s with sunshine.   Enjoy today’s wonderful weather!

Thanks for reading the Thursday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
