ROCK OF GIBRALTAR

Mason Rudolph is one of those guys that the more you hear about him the more you like him, respect him, and understand why there is so much confidence inside the OSU organization. The future is in great hands with this faith-first, Rock-of- Gibraltar quarterback being the face of the Cowboy program.

Too often we hear about the duds who mess things up for the majority of high-achieving college athletes. I’ve always said that if fans could meet all athletes on campuses in places like Stillwater, Norman, and Austin, they’d go home blown away with the character and discipline of the vast majority of the kids.

By all accounts, Mason Rudolph seems to be even a notch above most. Reminds me a little of Zac Robinson, the former Cowboy quarterback/good guy, who had a mature balance in his life that was obvious by his presence as a freshman. And maybe it’s because of their shared commitment to faith, uncommon humility and their natural ability to lead by example.

SEA OF GALILEE OR LAREDO?

The sturdy sophomore traveled to Israel in the offseason for a faith-based retreat. Rudolph’s curiosity landed him in places like the Sea of Galilee and The Garden Tomb. I’ve aspired to travel in those parts, but not when I was twenty. At that age I made good on aspirations to load up with the boys and drive to Nuevo Laredo – quite a different religious experience, if I may say so.

OH, AND HE CAN SPIN IT TOO

Check out the attached video that illustrates the maturity of the grounded Rudolph. Oh, I almost forgot. The kid spins it mighty nicely, too. His pocket presence, poise and ability to zing downfield throws is what landed him in Stillwater. But as we’re learning, there’s a lot more to Mason Rudolph than flinging a football sixty yards. Enjoy.
