OHP Identifies Man Shot By Trooper During Pursuit

A man reportedly was wounded by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper during a pursuit Thursday night, according to Captain Paul Timmons, Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

A man was wounded by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper during a pursuit Thursday night, according to Captain Paul Timmons, Oklahoma Highway Patrol. 

Brandon James Wooten, 40, is in a Tulsa hospital where he is said to be stable.

The pursuit started around 8:15 p.m. near Yale and went through Pawnee and Noble counties, authorities said. Wooten was northbound on County Road 210 at State Highway 15 in Noble County when an OHP trooper fired shots. 

"The pursuit ended and Wooten was transported to a Tulsa hospital," Timmons said. Wooten was shot an unknown number of times, OHP said.

In a news release, OHP said the incident involved a stolen 2001 blue Ford Ranger pickup.

Several agencies were involved in the pursuit besides OHP - including Pawnee County Sheriff's Office, Noble County Sheriff's Office, Pawnee Police Department and Yale PD.

No law enforcement officers were hurt. The name of the officer who fired his weapon has not been released.
