Oklahoma City police have located a 2-year-old boy believed to have been taken by his father, who reportedly made threats to hurt him.

Around 4:20 p.m., an Amber Alert was canceled for 2-year-old Elijah Abbott after police found him and his father safe in a motel in Midwest City.

According to police, the boy's father, 30-year-old Travis Lester, was involved in an altercation with the child's mother and took off with the child at about noon on Thursday at Wal-Mart at 100 E. I-240.

The child's mother told police that Lester made threats to hurt the child. He was reportedly armed with a semi-automatic pistol.  Lester and the child were last seen in a 2014 white Honda CR-V bearing Oklahoma tag 791-KKU.

Oklahoma City Police Capt. Paco Balderrama held a news conference Friday afternoon, and said Lester is a convicted felon who just got out of prison in April. He had been arrested multiple times in the past for violent crimes, including assault and domestic abuse in Oklahoma and Tulsa counties.

Capt. Balderrama said Lester is now facing domestic abuse charges.
