Labor Day sales are the big time to save on a lot of items. Some will be marked down anywhere from 20 to 80 percent. Here's the list from FatWallet.com.

First up, summer clothes will be marked down. We're talking t-shirts, shorts, sandals and swimwear. Most clothing items will be marked from 50 to 75 percent at both retail and big box stores.

You'll save on grills, yard equipment and patio furniture. Starting on Labor Day, and pretty much through September, home and garden items see huge discounts.

Prices will be slashed on seat cushions, grilling utensils and weed whackers. Also, mattresses and appliances will be marked down. Labor Day sales offer 50 percent off more and this will be the biggest drop in price until Black Friday.

If you need new sports gear, this weekend will be time to buy. Expect deals on gear for baseball, golf, biking, camping and fishing. You'll see lower prices on hunting equipment with dove season starting this week.

Last but not least, now is prime time to book for Thanksgiving and Holiday travel. Top travel sites will offer up to 50 percent off on airfare, hotels and other packages.
