TULSA - Tulsa receiver Keevan Lucas was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

In a 47-44 season opening win over FAU on Saturday, Lucas caught 10 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, while also carrying the ball twice for 21 yards. His 193 yards was the second-highest receiving total for the first weekend of the college football season.

Lucas, a 5’10” junior from Abilene, Texas, had two touchdown receptions covering 39 yards to tie the game 7-7 and one for 43 yards with a spectacular catch in the end zone to give Tulsa a 21-7 lead in the second quarter.

On Tulsa’s game-tying drive in the final minute, Lucas caught four passes covering 58 yards on the 12-play, 53-yard drive, with three of those receptions going for first downs. In the overtime series, Lucas took the first play 11 yards to the 14-yard line leading to the winning touchdown.

The weekly award is the second straight year that Lucas has begun the year as the American Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week. Last year, he won the award on the first week after a 233-yard, 3-touchdown performance against Tulane.
